About the Choir

Hathersage Choir

Hathersage Choir was established in 1995 and has over 70 members.  We are always anxious to welcome new members (especially men!) and would encourage anyone who is interested in joining the Choir to get in touch.  We can guarantee you a warm welcome.

We sing a wide repertoire of work ranging from Handel and Mozart through to songs from the shows.  We have two regular concerts per year at Christmas and mid-summer and usually also perform a sacred work at Easter.  Recent performances include Stainer’s Crucifixion, Maunder’s “Olivet to Calvary”, Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solonnelle” and Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury”.

Rehearsals are weekly on a Monday evening in the Hathersage Memorial Hall with a short break at Christmas and a longer break in July/August.  We have a first class Musical Director in Andrea Wright who has been our MD for several years together with a superb accompanist in Carol Reid.  Friendly and with a sense of humour, these two ensure that rehearsals are always fun as well as highly instructive.

So why don’t you give us a try?  You won’t be asked to audition and you don’t need to be able to read music although that obviously helps.  You will very soon find yourself looking forward to Monday evenings!
